The Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria, (BON), the umbrella body for broadcasting media houses in Nigeria, has elected Mr Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos, Director General of the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA as Chairman and High Chief Tony Akiotu, Group Managing Manager, Daar Communication as Vice-Chairman of the Organisation.
Speaking to The Brand Colossus, the Executive Secretary of BON, Dr. Yemisi Bamgbose revealed that they were elected unopposed during the 78th General Assembly of the organization which held at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja recently.
According to him, the investiture will be done very soon.
Mr Dembos takes over from Mr. John Ugbe, the Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice Group, whose tenure has experienced remarkable and extraordinary growth in the broadcast industry.
Mr Dembos is an astute professional with a proven track record and a formidable presence, poised to spearhead a transformative agenda aimed at revitalizing the broadcast industry and building on the achievements of his predecessor.
With over 30 years as a media practitioner, Dembos was General Manager of two NTA Stations, in Lokoja and Kano; and was Zonal Director, NTA, Kaduna, among other appointments.
He was appointed the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Television Authority by President Muhammadu Buhari.
He is currently a professional member of APCON and NIMN.
