FrieslandCampina WAMCO Appoints Olusanya Adesanya as Group Director of Sales

FrieslandCampina WAMCO Plc has appointed Olusanya Adesanya, former Commercial Director at Guinness Nigeria, as its new Group Director of Sales in a strategic move to strengthen the company’s position in Nigeria’s highly competitive dairy market.

Adesanya announced his appointment via LinkedIn, expressing excitement about joining FrieslandCampina and contributing to its next phase of growth. He noted that succeeding in Nigeria’s complex and fragmented business environment requires adaptability, a sharp focus on controllable factors and a deep obsession with the consumer.

Sharing insights at a recent Sales and Distribution Conference, Adesanya referenced a strategic exchange with MTN Nigeria’s Chief Commercial Officer, Olusina Adegoke. He explained that winning market share in mature markets depends on a precise formula anchored on agility, customer obsession, a strong commercial footprint and flawless execution, principles he applied throughout his career at Guinness Nigeria.

Adesanya joins FrieslandCampina after more than 12 years at Guinness Nigeria, where he built a distinguished career. In an official statement signed by Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Girish Sharma, the company highlighted his progression from joining the organisation in 2013 as a Sales Representative to his appointment as Commercial Director in 2023.

During his tenure, Adesanya led several landmark commercial transformations. He championed Project REAP, which redefined retail execution, expanded Guinness Nigeria’s distribution network and supported major transformation initiatives across Ghana and Kenya. Under his leadership, the commercial team delivered double-digit topline growth, improved gross margins, enhanced trade spend efficiency and strengthened distributor profitability, guided by his leadership philosophy of “always go the extra mile.”

His impact earned him multiple industry recognitions, including the African President Awards in 2021 and the MAD Awards in 2014 and 2015. In his farewell message, Adesanya described his years at Guinness Nigeria as a privilege, thanking colleagues, trade partners and the broader commercial team, while wishing the company continued success.

With his appointment, FrieslandCampina WAMCO is expected to further sharpen its sales strategy and execution as competition intensifies across Nigeria’s dairy and nutrition categories.
