Reckitt Names Ujunwa Chukwumah West Africa General Manager
Reckitt has appointed Ujunwa Chukwumah as General Manager, West Africa, effective September 15, 2026, placing the experienced FMCG executive at the helm of its business operations across the region.
Chukwumah announced the appointment in a LinkedIn post, describing the new role as an opportunity to deepen her understanding of Reckitt’s consumers, people and markets while driving growth and impact across the business.
The appointment also makes Chukwumah the first Nigerian woman to lead Reckitt’s West Africa business, a milestone she described as both an honour and a responsibility.
“I’m also deeply honoured to be the first Nigerian woman to lead Reckitt’s West Africa business,” she said, expressing hope that her journey would encourage more women to pursue opportunities in senior leadership.
Chukwumah brings significant commercial and general management experience to the role, having built a career spanning some of the world’s leading FMCG companies.
Prior to joining Reckitt, she was Commercial Director, South, West & Central Africa at Diageo, where she was responsible for the company’s operations across West and Central Africa.
Her career at Diageo also included roles as General Manager, Mainstream Spirits & Ready to Drink and Associate Director, Route to Consumer, where she worked across commercial strategy, route-to-market development, distribution, channel management, trade execution and business growth.
Before Diageo, Chukwumah spent nearly six years with Procter & Gamble, serving in roles including Group Manager, Distributor Operations and E-commerce Leader, Nigeria, and Field District Manager, Western Nigeria.
With experience spanning sales, distribution, e-commerce, route-to-market strategy and commercial leadership, Chukwumah assumes the Reckitt role at a time when consumer businesses across Africa are navigating changing consumer behaviour, economic pressures and evolving routes to market.
Outlining her approach to the new assignment, she said her focus would be on listening, building and delivering with Reckitt’s teams, customers and partners across West Africa.
“The work starts now,” Chukwumah stated.
