O'Tega Ogra Succeeds Osamede Uwubanmwen as ADVAN President
The Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN), the umbrella body representing the interests of advertisers and brand owners in Nigeria, has elected O'Tega Ogra as its new President following the association's Annual General Meeting (AGM) and elections held today at the Raddison Blu Hotel, Lagos.
Ogra succeeds Osamede Uwubanmwen, who has completed his tenure as President after leading the association through a period marked by industry collaboration, advocacy, and stronger engagement with key stakeholders across Nigeria's marketing communications ecosystem.
The leadership transition ushers in a new chapter for ADVAN at a time when advertisers are navigating evolving consumer behaviour, rapid digital transformation, data-driven marketing, artificial intelligence, and an increasingly dynamic regulatory environment.
Widely respected for his expertise in strategic communications, brand management and stakeholder engagement, Ogra has built an impressive career spanning the corporate and public sectors. He currently serves as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital and New Media, a role in which he has led strategic communication initiatives and strengthened government engagement across digital platforms. His experience in corporate communications, reputation management and public affairs positions him as a strong advocate for the interests of advertisers and brands operating in Nigeria’s increasingly dynamic marketplace.
Speaking through the outcome of the election, ADVAN members expressed confidence that Ogra’s leadership will further strengthen the association’s role in promoting responsible advertising, consumer-centric marketing, industry collaboration and sustainable growth within Nigeria’s marketing ecosystem.
Also elected at the AGM was Ms. Gloria Nwabuike, who emerged as the First Vice President of the association. Nwabuike is an accomplished marketing and business leader with extensive experience across brand strategy, commercial management and consumer engagement. Known for her strong understanding of the Nigerian consumer landscape and her contribution to building successful brands, she is expected to bring strategic insight and collaborative leadership to the new executive team.
Other members elected into the ADVAN Council include Oge Maduagwu, Bolanle Osotule, and Adeola Amosun, all respected professionals with deep experience across marketing, brand management, corporate strategy and business leadership. Their emergence reflects ADVAN’s commitment to drawing on diverse expertise to advance the interests of advertisers and strengthen the voice of brand owners in Nigeria.
The newly elected council assumes office at a time when the advertising and marketing industry is increasingly focused on innovation, creativity, measurement, sustainability and stronger consumer connections. Industry stakeholders expect the new leadership to deepen engagement with regulators, agencies, media owners and other sectoral bodies while championing initiatives that enhance professionalism, ethical advertising standards and the growth of Nigeria’s brand economy.
As one of the leading voices in Nigeria’s marketing communications landscape, ADVAN continues to play a critical role in shaping policy conversations, promoting industry best practices and creating platforms that enable advertisers to contribute meaningfully to economic growth and consumer development.
With O’tega Ogra at the helm and a new council bringing a wealth of experience and fresh perspectives, stakeholders are optimistic that ADVAN is poised to enter a new phase of strategic influence, stronger collaboration and greater impact within Nigeria’s advertising ecosystem.
