NIPR Lagos Unveils PRFest 2026, Puts Spotlight on Security, Nation Building and Public Trust
The Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has officially unveiled the 2026 edition of Lagos PRFest, setting the stage for a week-long gathering of communication professionals, policymakers, business leaders, academics and students to examine the role of strategic communication in strengthening national cohesion and public trust.
The unveiling took place during the Chapter's Monthly Meeting and PR Clinic held at the Eko FM Multipurpose Hall, Agidingbi, Ikeja, where members were presented with the theme and activities for what is regarded as one of the Institute's flagship professional engagements.
Scheduled to hold from July 3 to July 9, 2026, Lagos PRFest 2026 will be held under the theme, "Security, Nation Building and Public Trust: Fostering Collective Responsibility through Strategic Public Relations."
Speaking at the unveiling, Chairman of the NIPR Lagos State Chapter, Dr. Samuel Ayetutu, fnipr, described the festival as a strategic platform designed to advance professional excellence while addressing some of the most pressing issues confronting the nation.
According to him, this year's theme reflects the growing importance of strategic communication in building trust, promoting social cohesion and supporting national development at a time when security concerns and public confidence in institutions have become critical issues.
He noted that public relations professionals have a unique responsibility in shaping narratives, fostering understanding and strengthening relationships between institutions and the citizens they serve.
"Public relations practitioners have a crucial role to play in fostering trust, promoting responsible communication and strengthening the relationship between institutions and the public. PRFest 2026 will provide a unique opportunity for stakeholders to collectively examine these responsibilities and contribute to national development," Ayetutu said.
The Chapter Chairman called on members of the Institute and communication professionals across the country to actively participate in the festival, describing it as a valuable platform for knowledge sharing, networking, mentorship, collaboration and professional growth.
Providing an update on preparations for the event, Chairman of the PRFest 2026 Planning Committee, Bolaji Abimbola, disclosed that the committee is working diligently to deliver a memorable and impactful programme that will meet the expectations of participants and stakeholders.
He assured members that all necessary arrangements were being put in place to ensure a successful festival that would further elevate the practice of public relations and stimulate meaningful conversations around national development.
The unveiling ceremony also featured the formal presentation of the festival's programme of activities by the Chapter Chairman and other leaders of the Institute.
The week-long celebration will feature a diverse lineup of activities, including a Sports and Fitness Event, the launch of PR Mentorship and Leadership Clubs, a Practitioners' Hangout and African Night, a Media Tour of Lagos, the Annual Conference Lecture and the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Beyond celebrating professional excellence, the festival is expected to serve as a thought leadership platform for examining how public relations can help address contemporary challenges relating to security, governance, public trust and citizen engagement.
The Lagos State Chapter expressed confidence that PRFest 2026 will further strengthen the public relations profession while promoting constructive dialogue on collective responsibility, national unity and sustainable development.
With the increasing recognition of communication as a strategic asset in governance, business and society, Lagos PRFest 2026 is expected to bring together some of the industry's most influential voices in a timely conversation on how trust can be built, sustained and leveraged to drive national progress.
