Malolan Sampath Assumes Leadership of Champion Breweries
Champion Breweries Plc has commenced a new leadership phase with the assumption of office of Malolan Sampath as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2026.
Sampath takes over at a time when the company is focused on strengthening its market position and driving sustainable growth across its business. His appointment follows the resignation of Inalegwu Adoga, whose exit as Managing Director and CEO was announced by the company in June.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of Champion Breweries, Imo-Abasi Jacob, on behalf of the Board of Directors, the company said Sampath’s extensive experience in manufacturing, commercial execution, business transformation and leadership across multiple markets would support the company’s strategic objectives.
The Board expressed confidence that his leadership would help strengthen the company’s competitive position while creating long-term value for shareholders and other stakeholders.
Sampath brings 26 years of leadership experience across the beverage, FMCG, manufacturing and agro-industrial sectors, with significant experience in building and transforming businesses across Africa.
His career includes senior leadership roles in the beverage and brewing industry. He previously served as Managing Director of Unique Beverages in Angola and as Sales and Marketing Director for a PepsiCo bottling franchise. He also has earlier experience within the brewing sector.
Before joining Champion Breweries, Sampath was Managing Director of NPK Joint Venture and Chief Marketing Officer at Indorama Eleme Fertilisers in Nigeria. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of Global Industries Limited, a Wilmar International joint venture in Zambia.
The Board also recognised the contribution of Rasheed Adebiyi, Executive Director of Finance, who served as Acting Managing Director during the transition, commending him for his leadership and commitment during the period.
Sampath holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Management (MBA) from the Symbiosis Centre for Management & HRD, Pune, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Chennai.
With his extensive cross-sector and African market experience, Sampath is expected to bring a combination of commercial leadership and business transformation expertise to Champion Breweries as the company pursues its next phase of growth.
