Dangote Cement Appoints Kachi Onubogu Pan-Africa COO to Drive Vision 2030 Growth

Dangote Cement Plc has appointed seasoned business executive Dr. Kachi Onubogu as Chief Operating Officer, Pan-Africa, strengthening its leadership team as the company accelerates its Vision 2030 strategy to become a $100 billion pan-African industrial powerhouse.

In his new role, Onubogu will oversee operations across Dangote Cement's markets on the continent, working with regional leadership teams to drive operational excellence, expand production capacity and support the company's long-term growth ambitions.

Commenting on his appointment, Onubogu described the opportunity as both an honour and a significant responsibility, noting that it comes at a defining moment in Dangote Group's expansion journey.

"I am deeply honoured to announce my appointment as Chief Operating Officer, Pan-Africa, at Dangote Cement Plc. In this role, I will lead operations across multiple DCP markets in Africa, collaborating with exceptional teams dedicated to building the future of our continent," he said.

He highlighted Dangote Group's Vision 2030 as a transformative agenda aimed at creating a $100 billion pan-African industrial powerhouse through increased manufacturing capacity, deeper backward integration and stronger cross-border investments.

According to him, the strategy includes expanding Dangote Cement's production capacity to approximately 90 million tonnes, while supporting industrial development and reducing Africa's dependence on imported goods.

"At its core is a belief that inspires me. Africa must not only export its potential in people and natural resources but also produce, process and prosper from it," Onubogu said.

He added that the cement business remains central to the continent's industrialisation agenda by providing the foundation for infrastructure development, manufacturing, employment generation and long-term economic resilience.

Expressing appreciation to the company's leadership, Onubogu said he was grateful for the confidence reposed in him and looked forward to working with colleagues across the Group to advance its strategic objectives.

"I am profoundly grateful to the Dangote Group leadership for their trust, and I am energised by the journey ahead. I look forward to collaborating with colleagues across the Group as we build with purpose, invest with conviction and contribute to the industrialisation of Africa," he said.

Onubogu brings more than 20 years of leadership experience spanning marketing, commercial strategy and general management across multinational organisations operating in Africa.

Throughout his career, he has led multi-million-dollar business transformation projects, launched successful consumer brands, established new regional businesses, expanded market share and steered products to category leadership, particularly within the dairy sector.

His appointment is expected to bolster Dangote Cement's pan-African operations as the company pursues its ambitious expansion strategy and reinforces its position as one of Africa's leading cement manufacturers.
