The Brand Colossus Partners with YABATECH to Bridge the Gap Between Academia and Industry

In a bold step toward reshaping marketing education, The Brand Colossus has partnered with Yaba College of Technology’s Department of Marketing to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world industry demands. This collaboration aims to equip students with practical skills, mentorship, and industry insights—ensuring they graduate not just with knowledge but with the tools to thrive in a competitive market.

Speaking during the engagement, Oghale Abikele, representative of The Brand Colossus, emphasized the organization’s commitment to equipping students with hands-on knowledge and real-world insights that will prepare them for the evolving marketing landscape.

“At The Brand Colossus, we recognize that education alone is not enough. To truly build the next generation of marketing professionals, we must bridge the gap between the ‘Town and Gown’—ensuring that students do not just graduate with theoretical knowledge, but also with practical skills, industry exposure, and mentorship that position them for success,” Abikele stated.

“Our collaboration with YABATECH is a step towards creating that balance. Through this partnership, we hope to provide students with opportunities for hands-on learning, industry guidance, and career support that will make them more competitive in the job market.”

The Brand Colossus team was welcomed by Prince Clement Adesina Taiwo, Chief Lecturer and Head of the Department of Marketing, alongside other faculty members, including Mrs. Ochonogor Rita Nkechi, Mr. Olowolagba Ahmed, and representatives from the National Association of Marketing Students (NAMS), Mr. Tony Bishop among others.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the partnership, Prince Taiwo acknowledged the critical role of industry collaborations in enhancing student learning experiences.

“One of the biggest challenges in marketing education today is the gap between what is taught in the classroom and what is required in the professional world,” he noted.

“Initiatives like this from The Brand Colossus are invaluable in helping our students gain a better understanding of how marketing works in real-world scenarios. We appreciate their commitment to supporting our students and look forward to working together to create more opportunities for learning and professional development.”

The engagement marks the beginning of a promising collaboration, with plans for mentorship programs, internship placements, workshops, and industry-led training sessions to enhance students’ readiness for the competitive marketing landscape.

With initiatives like this, The Brand Colossus continues to drive industry-academic partnerships that will shape the future of marketing in Nigeria, ensuring that students graduate not just with degrees, but with the skills and confidence to excel in the industry.
