NIMN Unveils Speakers, Gears Up for Annual Marketing Conference

The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) has announced the lineup of speakers for the 2024 Annual Marketing Conference, scheduled to take place from June 20th to 22nd in Ibadan.

This impressive roster of highly respected and experienced industry professionals promises to deliver in-depth and insightful perspectives on the theme “Empowering Nigerian Brands: Leveraging Local Content for Global Success.” The conference aims to foster discussions on the development of indigenous brands and the optimization of local talents for sustainable growth.

 

This highly anticipated three-day event is expected to draw top industry professionals, academics, and students from across Nigeria. Among the distinguished speakers are:

Prof. Bankole Sodipo

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Prof. Sodipo has nearly 38 years of experience advising on foreign direct investments across various sectors, including privatizations, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and intellectual property. Renowned for his expertise in intellectual property, media, entertainment, and sports law, he has been pivotal in drafting and advising on key legislation, including the Copyright Act 1988 and the Copyright Act 2022.

 

Femi Odugbemi

A multifaceted figure in Nigeria’s film and television industry, Femi Odugbemi is the Founder and CEO of Zuri24 Media. His prolific career includes producing notable television dramas like “TINSEL” and “BATTLEGROUND,” as well as feature films such as “GIDI BLUES” and “THE MAN DIED.” His global influence is further cemented by his membership in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscars) and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Emmys).
Tosin Oshinowo
With over 25 years of multi-sectoral experience, Tosin Oshinowo is the Founder and CEO of AT3 Resources – The MUVMNT Agency, an award-winning brand growth agency. Known for her work with major brands such as META (Facebook), Coca-Cola, and Procter & Gamble, she has dedicated her career to helping brands thrive in today’s fast-paced environment.

 

Nkechi Obi

Nkechi Obi is a seasoned sports administrator and consultant, having worked with various government agencies and private sector partners to develop Nigeria’s sports industry. Her initiatives, such as the Team Nigeria project, have secured significant funding for Nigerian athletes’ training and participation in international events.

Adeola Balogun

Founder and COO of Limlim Foods Production Company Ltd, Adeola Balogun brings her expertise in the African agricultural food processing industry. As a Chartered Accountant, she is committed to driving innovation and reducing post-harvest losses in Nigeria, promoting sustainable agricultural practices and food security.

 

Dr. Kenneth Ikpe

Dr. Ken is a distinguished thought leader in the realms of leadership, branding, marketing communications, public relations, perception engineering, and sports business. Known for his effectiveness, discipline, and consistency, Dr. Ken combines a professional style with a great sense of humor, making him an approachable and respected figure in his field.

 

Prof. Uchenna Uzo

Uchenna Uzo is the Faculty Director at Lagos Business School, where he teaches courses in Marketing Management, Personal Selling, and Sales and Channel Management. His extensive research and consulting work spans various industries, with a primary focus on retail marketing management, sales, and distribution channel management.

Prof. Justie Nnabuko

Prof. Justie Nnabuko, a lecturer in the Department of Marketing at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, has been teaching marketing to undergraduate and postgraduate students for 40 years. She has served multiple times as Head of the Department, Associate Dean, and Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration.

Mr. Idorenyen Enang, President and Chairman of the Council, highlighted the significance of the conference, stating, “The conference is meticulously curated to address the challenges brands face today. Our industry experts and seasoned professionals in marketing will provide invaluable insights. We are focusing on how the Institute can support growth not just for the country but for SMEs as well. This year, we aim to empower Nigerian brands by leveraging local content for global success, with a strong emphasis on intellectual property.”

Mr. Enang added, “We are introducing something unique this time—practical case studies. Companies will share their experiences of evolving from local brands to achieving global recognition. It promises to be a highly interactive and engaging conference.”

 

Milagrosa Nana Utomi, Chairman of Events and Conference, assured that the event would attract both national and international delegates from partnering institutions worldwide. The conference will feature insightful discourses with industry veterans who will provide guidance on leading sustainable growth on a global scale.

 

In addition to the discussions, the conference will include an electoral process during the Annual General Meeting of the Institute. This will involve electing a new First Vice-President, Second Vice-President, and filling two Council seats.
