The Nigerian Army School of Signals (NASS) has commended national telecoms operator, Globacom, for its consistent contributions to Nigeria’s development and its strong commitment to a proudly Nigerian identity.
The Commandant of the school, Major General Kennedy Osemwegie, gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to Globacom’s corporate headquarters in Lagos. He lauded the company for remaining steadfast in promoting indigenous excellence since its establishment more than two decades ago, noting that the brand has continued to “extend the frontiers of who a Nigerian should be through its Nigeria-centered focus.”
Emphasizing the importance of synergy between military and civilian institutions, Major General Osemwegie disclosed that the visit was aimed at identifying areas of collaboration, particularly through Glo’s Corporate Social Responsibility arm, the Glo Foundation. He explained that such partnerships could further enhance the school’s mission in academic and professional development.
“The Nigerian Army Signals School is the hub of training for Army personnel in ICT and communications, as well as for some paramilitary organizations. Exploring collaborations with corporate organizations like Globacom is crucial to better fulfilling our mandate,” he said.
Accompanying the Commandant were senior officials of the school, who joined in discussions on potential areas of cooperation.
In her response, Mrs. Mojisola Ashieru Sweet, Globacom’s Director of Strategy and Board Affairs, who received the delegation on behalf of the company’s management, reaffirmed Glo’s pride in being a wholly Nigerian brand with a mission to deliver transformative innovations to society. She also assured the school of Globacom’s readiness to partner in strategic areas that align with its developmental goals.
Among the initiatives highlighted was Globacom’s Learning Management System (LMS), a core module of the Glo Smart Learning Suite. The platform empowers institutions to develop and share digital content, conduct live tutorials, administer online assessments, and track performance analytics, while integrating communication tools such as instant messaging and video conferencing to enrich the digital learning experience.
In addition, the suite features an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to support seamless institutional administration, complemented by affordable data bundles to ensure students maintain uninterrupted access.
With the signals school’s mandate to strengthen ICT and communications capacity for the Nigerian Army, a potential collaboration with Globacom could set a new benchmark in military training and digital learning in Nigeria.
