MTN Nigeria wins big at ADVAN Africa Awards

MTN Nigeria, a prominent telecommunications company, secured the highly esteemed 2023 Brand of the Year Award, as well as multiple accolades, at the 2023 Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN) Awards.

The telecom brand added to its list of accolades by clinching awards in various categories, including Innovation Category of the Year, Consumer Choice Award for Telecoms, CSR Campaign of the Year, Campaign of the Year (2nd Position), and the Marketing Personality of the Year award for its Chief Marketing Officer, Adia Sowho.

The event, hosted at the Civic Centre in Lagos, adopted the theme “Marketing: The Persistent Engine of Business Growth.” It brought together a diverse group of distinguished marketing professionals and experts in brand management from across the wide spectrum of the marketing communications industry.

Addressing the ADVAN African Awards, Osamede Uwubanmwen, the President of the Advertisers Association of Nigeria, highlighted, “This year, we have expanded our award categories, introducing recognition for junior managers in our teams. We’ve also refined the Customer Choice Awards to mirror the diverse industries in which our brands operate.”

The Chairperson of the ADVAN Awards Jury, Prof. Dixon-Ogbechi Bolajoko N., who also serves as the Head of the Department of Business Administration at the University of Lagos, remarked that all the categories were highly competitive, with numerous entries, and only the most exceptional emerged as winners.

Commending the ADVAN Award of excellence, Stephan Loerke, CEO, World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) affirmed that acknowledging innovative strides will undoubtedly inspire creativity and determination to sustain marketing excellence.

Among the notable winners, Hypo secured the top spot in the New Brand/Brand Extension/Brand Revitalization category, with Terra Seasoning and Add Me claiming the second and third positions. Maltina-Show Happiness emerged victorious in the Experiential category, followed by Indomie Flavour Fest in second place and Morning Fresh in third.

Indomie’s Golden Magnet Promo took the lead in the Consumer Promotion category, with Devon Kings-Mega Millionaire Promo securing the second position. In the Digital Campaign of the Year category, Indomie emerged as the winner, with Terra Seasoning and Hypo Bleach in the second and third positions, respectively. Power Oil was the victor in the Public Relations category.

Peak Milk was recognized as the Legacy Brand of the Year, with Gino Tomato and Haier Thermocool securing the second and third positions. Peak Yogurt claimed the title of Indigenous Brand of the Year, with Haier Thermocool and Terra Cubes taking the second and third positions, respectively.

MTN was honored with the Innovation of the Year award, while Colgate and Peak Pap secured the second and third positions in this category.

ADVAN stands as the singular trade association in Nigeria dedicated to championing the collective interests of “Advertisers.” These advertisers encompass both multinational and local organizations that enlist the services of advertising and media agencies to promote their products and services.
