The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), the umbrella body of marketing professionals in Nigeria, recently achieved a significant milestone with the appointment of Ms. Patience Sado as its first female Registrar. This landmark appointment underscores the institute’s steadfast commitment to gender equality, emphasizing its dedication to fostering professional growth by providing an equal platform for both genders.
Patience Sado assumed the role of Registrar in May this year, taking over administrative responsibilities from Sidney Ogodo, who held the position since 2015. This transition follows the mandatory retirement of Rev. Deji Olokesusi, the former Registrar who served from 2008.
Bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to her new role, Patience Sado is poised to lead the administrative duties of the institute. Her efforts will complement the noteworthy initiatives of Mr. Idorenyen Enang, President of the National body in repositioning the marketing profession in Nigeria.
Patience Sado, an esteemed member of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), holds the position of Registrar alongside her role as a lecturer in the Department of Petroleum Marketing and Business Studies at the Petroleum Training Institute in Effurun, Delta State, Nigeria. She holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Marketing from Ambrose Alli University and a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Marketing from Delta State University. Additionally, she possesses a Diploma in Basic Computer Studies.
With eight years of commendable working experience, Patience Sado, or Pat as she is affectionately called, has excelled in people management and student training. Her contributions extend to various committees within her institution, including the Admission Committee, Entrepreneurship Development Committee, Research Seminars and Conference Committees, as well as playing key roles in committees post Covid-19 and Convocation Sub-committee.
At the national level, Patience Sado has been an integral part of NIMN, serving as a member of the Education, Examination, and Accreditation Committee. She holds the esteemed position of Vice-Chairman in the NIMN Curriculum Review Sub-Committee and has previously served as the secretary of the NIMN Warri Chapter.
Beyond her professional commitments, Patience Sado has garnered recognition for her outstanding contributions, receiving awards such as the Pioneer Award from the AAU Alumni Warri Chapter and the Award of Excellence from the Association of Petroleum Marketing and Business at PTI (APEMBUS). Her dedication has also earned her a nomination for the Nigeria Marketing Award 2022 in the category of Marketing Educator of the Year.
Patience Sado is not only a distinguished educator but also a co-author of noteworthy journals on marketing strategies and consumer purchase behavior, as well as public relations practices and customer satisfaction in leading banks in Nigeria.
Outside the realm of academia, she is passionate about pursuing knowledge, enjoys traveling, and finds fulfillment in connecting with new people. Patience Sado stands as an exemplar of professionalism, leadership, and commitment to advancing the field of marketing in Nigeria.
