Peculiar Okafor is an experienced marketing and commercial leader with work experience across advertising, FMCG, International NGO and Manufacturing sectors.
Her educational background includes an MBA from Business School Netherlands, professional training from prestigious institutions such as the Lagos Business School, London School of Business and Finance, and the Digital Marketing Institute.
Beginning her journey as a management trainee with the Troyka Group, she gained foundational experience in advertising and integrated marketing communications while working at Insight Communications where she worked on brands such as Pepsi, Sterling Bank, Meristem and Peak Milk.
This experience equipped her with a solid understanding of consumer behavior and brand management. Transitioning to JMG as an assistant marketing manager and a marketing manager at Hello Products Limited showcased her ability to develop and execute marketing campaigns that drive brand awareness and customer engagement.
Prior to joining Berger Paints Nigeria Plc, as a Trade Marketing Manager with Mariestopes she expanded her skill set by managing marketing and trade activities for the social marketing directorate. In this role, she contributed to profit growth by relaunching RTM for more efficient coverage and distribution, increasing distribution from 37% to 80% one year into the role, ensured portfolio stability and achieved average 30% growth YOY. This role provided her with valuable experience in both traditional and unconventional marketing strategies, given the unique challenges of marketing in the NGO sector.
As Head of Marketing Berger Paints Nigeria Plc, she has carried out a refreshing of the brand to drive more affinity, relaunched the product packaging, expanded retail foot prints and successfully launched the first eco-friendly paint product in Nigeria; Luxol Eco-friendly Premium Matt and Premium Satin Variants. The impact of the marketing activities has led to increased revenue and profitability. In 2024, Berger Paints was awarded as Innovative Paint Brand of the Year by Marketing Edge.
Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her sense of ownership and ability to develop clutter cutting marketing solutions that deliver return on investment while driving profitability and business objectives.
