Mohammed Idris to Host ARCON Colloquium

The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) has named the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, as the Chief Host of the 4th Advertising Industry Colloquium (AIC 4.0), with the Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, set to chair the event.

Their appointments underscore the growing national importance of the advertising industry as a key driver of economic growth, creative innovation and responsible public communication, while highlighting the Federal Government's support for initiatives that promote professionalism and sustainable development within the marketing communications ecosystem.

Scheduled for August 6, 2026, at D'Podium Event Centre, Ikeja, Lagos, the colloquium will convene leading voices from across Nigeria's advertising and marketing communications industry under the theme, "The Future of Advertising: Roles of Platforms, People and Regulations."

The annual gathering is expected to attract advertisers, advertising agencies, media organisations, technology platforms, creative professionals, academics, policymakers, regulators and other stakeholders to examine the forces reshaping the industry and identify practical pathways for future growth.

As Chief Host, Mohammed Idris is expected to reinforce the Federal Government's commitment to fostering an enabling environment for responsible advertising, innovation and the continued development of Nigeria's creative economy. His participation reflects the strategic role advertising plays in strengthening the nation's information ecosystem and supporting economic transformation.

Chairing the event, Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace is expected to provide strategic leadership to discussions, drawing on his extensive experience in journalism, public communication and media administration. His role is expected to enrich conversations on the evolving relationship between technology, regulation, media platforms and consumer engagement.

Beyond serving as an industry conference, the Advertising Industry Colloquium has established itself as ARCON's flagship platform for policy dialogue and knowledge exchange. Through its unique Town-and-Gown model, the event bridges academia and industry, encouraging research-driven conversations that advance advertising scholarship, professional standards and innovation.

With rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, digital media and data-driven marketing redefining brand communication globally, this year's colloquium is expected to generate valuable insights into how regulators, practitioners and technology platforms can collaborate to build a more ethical, competitive and future-ready advertising industry.

The 2026 edition further reinforces ARCON's commitment to promoting responsible advertising, strengthening industry regulation and positioning Nigeria's marketing communications sector to thrive in an increasingly dynamic global environment.
