Lafarge Africa Rebrands as HBM Nigeria Plc in Major Corporate Transition
Lafarge Africa Plc has officially unveiled a new corporate identity and will now operate as HBM Nigeria Plc, marking a significant milestone in the company's transformation and strategic realignment following changes in its shareholder structure.
The rebranding signals the beginning of a new chapter for one of Nigeria’s leading building solutions providers, reflecting its evolution while reinforcing its commitment to supporting the country's economic growth and infrastructure development.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, described the new identity as a forward-looking step designed to position the company for sustainable growth, innovation, and operational excellence.
“HBM Nigeria Plc represents an exciting new chapter in our journey as a leading building solutions company. While our corporate identity is evolving, our commitment to Nigeria remains unwavering,” he said.
Alade-Akinyemi noted that the company would continue to deliver quality cement, concrete, aggregates, and innovative building solutions that support infrastructure development, housing expansion, and industrialisation across the country.
He assured stakeholders that the transition would be executed through a phased implementation process across the company's nationwide operations, with no disruption to employees, customers, shareholders, investors, or host communities.
According to him, stakeholders should expect seamless business continuity, sustained investments, and a stronger focus on creating long-term economic and social value.
Chairman of HBM Nigeria Plc, Gbenga Oyebode, said the rebranding is aimed at positioning the company for enduring success while preserving the values and principles that have defined its legacy over the decades.
Expressing appreciation to shareholders and employees, Oyebode said the Board remains confident that the company will continue to deliver sustainable value and strengthen stakeholder confidence.
“I would like to express my sincere appreciation to our shareholders for their continued trust, to the Board and Management for their leadership, and to our employees whose dedication and commitment continue to drive the company forward,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, Minister of Works David Umahi commended the company for its contributions to Nigeria’s infrastructure development through the delivery of major projects across the country.
Highlighting the company's longstanding role in supporting the Federal Government’s infrastructure agenda, Umahi praised the quality and integrity associated with its operations.
“I can talk about Lafarge for a whole day because we have come a long way. Though the company is very strict and of high integrity, I can say that their products are impeccable,” he said.
The unveiling ceremony attracted a distinguished audience, including the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Peter Odey, representatives of the Lagos and Ogun State governments, traditional rulers from Cross River, Gombe and Ogun states, current and former board members, members of the executive management team, industry leaders, and other stakeholders.
The company emphasised that while its name has changed, its core mission remains unchanged: delivering innovative building solutions, driving sustainable development, and contributing to Nigeria’s infrastructure and economic advancement.
